Cape Town

Grasses were moderate. Low tree levels included cypress (Cupressus), pine (Pinus), kareeboom (Rhus), gum (Myrtus), plane (Platanus) and Casuarina. Low weed levels were observed and heather (Erica) and English Plantain (Plantago) were detected. Moulds were low

Johannesburg

Grass levels were low. Trees levels were low and (Cupressus), white mulberry (Morus), gum (Myrtus), pine (Pinus) and plane (Platanus) were detected. Low weed levels included English Plantain ({Plantago), goosefoot (Chenopod) Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria) the pink and carnation family (Caryophyllaceae) and the daisy family (Asteraceae). Moulds were low. Maize pollen (Zea mays) was detected.

Pretoria

Rain removed pollen and fungal spores from the atmosphere so that low levels were detected in all categories. Tree pollen included gum (Myrtus). Ash (Fraxinus), and yellowwood (Podocarpus). Weeds detected were English Plantain (Plantago), goosefoot (Chenopod), Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria) and (Thymelaeaceae). This group includes Gnidia. The moulds were low.

Bloemfontein

Grasses were low, low tree concentrations included olive (Olea), Acacia and sneezebush (Buddleia). No weed pollen was detected and moulds were low.

Kimberley

Grasses were low. Low tree levels included olive (Olea) and cypress (Cupressus). Weed pollen levels were low and the types detected were Pellitory-of-the-wall (Parietaria) and aloe spp (Asphodelaceae). Moulds were low but with a strong spike for Cladosporium following days of rain.

Durban

Grasses were low at this site. Low tree pollen levels included kareeboom (Rhus) waxberry (Morella) and jacaranda (Fabaceae). Weed pollen detected was English Plantain (Plantago), sedge (Cyperus), and slangbos (Stoebe). Moulds were low but increased after rain and a spike was seen for mushrooms (basidiospores).

Gqeberha

Grasses were low at this site. Tree pollen levels were low and the types yellowwood (Podocarpus) Casuarina and olive (Olea) were detected. Very low weed levels included sedges (Cyperus) pigweed (Amaranthus) and the daisy family (Asteraceae). Moulds were low.
