Summary

Several sites could not process their pollen samples or couriered samples did not reach the laboratories in time for analysis due to the two public holidays this week.

Cape Town

Low pollen counts were seen for all three categories at this site. Trees were Australian pine (Casuarina), gum (Myrtaceae) and poplar (Populaceae), while weeds were goosefoot Chenopodiaceae), mugwort (Artemisia) and erica (Ericaceae). Moulds were low.

Johannesburg

Pollen and moulds remain low. The only tree detected was gum (Myrtaceae). Weeds were the daisy family (Asteraceae), the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae), sedges (Cyperaceae) and lily (Liliaceae). Moulds were low.

Pollen concentrations were slight at this site. Trees were gum (Myrtaceae) and weeds were protea (Proteaceae) and nettles (Urticaceae). Moulds were moderate with spikes for ascospores following rain.

Pollen concentrations were low. Trees were cypress (Cupressaceae), gum (Myrtaceae) and false olive (Buddleja). Weeds were mugwort (Artemisia, ferns (Polypodiaceae), nettles (Urticaceae) and goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae). Moulds were low.
