Pollen was low at this sampling site. Trees included gum (Myrtaceae), Australian pine (Casuarina) and sumac (Anacardiaceae). Weeds were hemp) Cannabaceae), mugwort (Artemisia), the daisy family (Asteraceae), erica (Ericacaeae), sedges (Cyperaceae), nettles (Urticaceae) and bulrush (Typhaceae). Moulds were low.
Johannesburg
Pollen concentrations were extremely at this site. Trees were bushwillow (Combretaceae), gum (Myrtaceae) and karee (Searsia) and no weed pollen was detected. Moulds were low.
Pretoria
Pollen would be low at this site. Trees could be cypress (Cupressaceae), gum (Myrtaceae), ash (Fraxinus), pine (Pinaceae), poplar (Populaceae), oak (Quercus), hackberry (Celtis), bushwillow (Combretaceae) and birch (Betula). Weeds might be slangbos (Stoebe-type), the daisy family (Asteracae), erica (Ericaceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), plantain (Plantaginaceae), sedges (Cyperaceae), spurges (Euphorbiaceae) and the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae). Pollen concentrations were low. Trees included false olive (Buddleja), bushwillow (Combretaceae), olive (Oleaceae), poplar (Populaceae) and karee (Searsia). Weeds were mugwort (Artemisia), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), pigmy weeds (Crassulaceae) and sedges (Cyperaceae). Moulds were low.
Durban
Tree, grass and weed pollen was low. Trees were monkey puzzle (Araucariaceae), Australian pine (Casuarina), bushwillow (Combretaceae), cypress (Cupressaceae), mulberry (Moraceae), gum (Myrtaceae), pine (Pinaceae), oak (Quercus), oak (Quercus), karee (Searsia) and willow (Salicaceae). Weeds were lily (Liliaceae) and nettles (Urticaceae) and fern spores were seen (Polypodiaceae). Moulds were low.
Gqeberha
Very low pollen concentrations were detected at his site. Trees were waxberry (Morella) and weeds were the daisy family (Asteraceae) and coffee bush (Bruniaceae). Moulds were low.
