Rain removed pollen and fungal spores from the atmosphere during this sampling period. Grasses and weeds were low. Trees were moderate with some high counts for cypress (Cupressaceae). Other trees identified were gum (Myrtaceae), elm (Ulmaceae), beech (Fagus spp.), oak (Quercus spp.), birch (Betulaceae), acacia (Acacia spp.), pine (PInaceae) and karee (Rhus spp.). Weeds were the daisy family (Asteraceae), sedge (Cyperaceae), mugwort (Artemisia spp.) and bulrush (Typhaceae). Mould spores were low.

Trees increased to moderate concentrations at this sampling site and included acacia (Acacia spp). Palm (Arecaceae), birch (Betulaceae), cypress (Cupressaceae), beech (Fagus spp.), gum (Myrtaceae), pine (Pinaceae), plane (Platanceae) and karee (Rhus/ Searsia spp.). Weeds were the daisy family (Asteraceae) and bulrush (Typhaceae). Mould spores were low.

Pollen in the categories of trees, grasses and weeds remained low. Trees identified were birch (Betulaceae), mulberry (Moraceae), cypress (Cupressaceae), gum (Myrtaceae), pine (Pinaceae), plane (Platanaceae) and oak (Quercus spp.). Weeds were goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae). Mould spores were low.
Bloemfontein
Tree pollen is increasing, while grass and weed pollen concentrations remain low. Trees identified included sumac (Anacardiaceae), false olive (Buddleia spp.), mulberry (Moraceae), olive (Oleaceae), pine (Pinaceae), plane (Platanceae, poplar (Populaceae), karee (Rhus/Searsia spp.) and elm (Ulmaceae). Weeds were mugwort (Artemisia spp.), the daisy family (Asteraceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), pigmy weed (Crassula spp.) and sedge (Cyperaceae). Mould spores were low.

Grasses and weeds were low. Trees are increasing slightly but are still low. Trees identified included hackberry (Celtis spp.), mulberry (Moraceae), ash (Fraxinus spp.) beech (Fagus spp.) and pine (Pinaceae). Weeds were mugwort (Artemisia spp.) and buckwheat (Polygonaceae). Mould spores were low.
Durban
Tree, grass and weed pollen concentrations at this site were low. Tree pollen included yellowwood (Podocarpaceae), cypress (Cupresaceae), elm (Ulmaceae), beech (Fagus sp) and mulberry (Moraceae). Weeds were the daisy family (Asteraceae), mezereum (Thymelaeaceae) and mugwort (Artemisia spp.). Mould spores were low.
