Cape Town

Grasses, trees, weeds and moulds were low for this sampling period. Forest elder (Nuxia sp.) and gum tree (Myrtaceae) were the only tree pollen detected, and the only weed pollen present was from the daisy family.

Johannesburg

Grass, tree, weed and mould levels were low. Tree pollen included birch (Betulaceae), gum tree (Myrtaceae), oak (Quercus sp.), bush willow (Combretaceae), mulberry (Moraceae), plane (Platanus sp.) and karee (Rhus sp. / Searsia sp.). Weed pollen detected in this sampling period were the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), the daisy family (Asteraceae), slangbos (Stoebe-type), ferns (Polypodiaceae), the jute family (Tiliaceae), spurges (Euphorbia sp.) and ericas (Ericaeae).

Pretoria

Low grass levels were detected. Tree levels were similarly low as karee (Rhus sp. / Searsia sp.), gum (Myrtaceae) and hop-bush (Dodonaea sp.) were detected. Low weed levels included English plantain (Plantaginaceae) and slangbos (Stoebe-type). Moulds were low.

Bloemfontein

Grass, tree, weed and mould counts were low for this sampling period. Karee (Searsia sp. / Rhus sp.) was the only tree pollen detected. Weed pollen included the daisy family (Asteraceae) and goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae).

Kimberley

Grasses were mostly low with one or two days with moderate counts. Tree pollen was low with only karee (Searsia sp. / Rhus sp.) detected. Low weed counts included the daisy family (Asteraceae), ericas (Ericaceae), ice-plants (Aizoaceae) and knotweed (Polygonaceae). Mould levels were low.

Durban

Grasses were low. Low tree levels included karee (Searsia sp. / Rhus sp.) and waxberry (Morella sp.). Weeds were a low but constant presence in the atmosphere, as the daisy family (Asteraceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), the mallow family (Malvaceae), ferns (Polypodiaceae), protea (Proteaceae), nettle (Urticaceae) and knotweed (Polygonaceae) were detected. Moulds were low.

Gqeberha

Grass, tree, weed, and mould counts were low during this sampling period. Cedar (Pinaceae) was the only tree pollen detected. Weed pollen included the daisy family (Asteraceae), slangbos (Stoebe-type), proteas (Proteaceae), the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae), ericas (Ericaceae) and sedges (Cyperaceae).
