Cape Town
Pollen and mould concentrations were very low at this site. Trees included cypress (Cupressaceae) and birch (Betulaceae). Weeds were nettles (Urticaceae) and heath (Ericaceae)
Johannesburg
Pollen and mould concentrations were very low at this site. Trees included poplar (Populaceae), cypress (Cupressaceae), beech (Fagaceae) and gum (Myrtaceae). No grass pollen was detected and weeds were pigweed (Amaranthaceae).
Pretoria
4-year means are given. Low pollen and mould levels are found at this time of year. Trees are typically birch (Betulaceae), cypress (Cupressaceae), karee (Rhus/Searsia) and olive (Oleaceae).Weeds are the daisy family (Asteraceae), ferns Polypodiaceae), nettles (Urticaceae), slangbos (Stoebe-type) and spurges (Euphorbiaceae).
Bloemfontein
Pollen and mould concentrations were all very low at this site. Trees were the sumac family (Anacardiaceae), gum (Myrtaceae), mulberry (Moraceae), plane (Platanaceae) and karee (Rhus/Searsia). Weeds were mugwort (Artemisia), the daisy family (Asteraceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae) and ferns (Polypodiaceae).
Kimberley
Extremely low pollen and mould concentrations were seen at this sampling site. Trees detected were karee (Rhus/Searsia) and weeds were sorrel (Rumex)
Durban
Very low pollen and mould concentrations were observed at this sampling site. The only tree pollen detected was mulberry (Moraceae) and weeds were mallows (Malvaceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae) and nettles (Urticaceae).
Gqeberha
Extremely low pollen and mould concentrations were seen at this site. Tree pollen included waxberry (Morella) and weed pollen was the daisy family (Asteraceae) and reeds (Restionaceae). Moulds were low.
Potchefstroom
No findings were received from this site.
George
Low pollen and mould concentrations were seen at this sampling site. Trees were cypress (Cupressaceae) and elm (Ulmaceae). Weeds were protea (Proteaceae).
