Cape Town

Grass, tree, weed and mould counts were low, with tree pollen approaching moderate counts. Tree pollen detected was gum (Myrtaceae), karee (Rhus sp. / Searsia sp.) and cypress (Cupressaceae), with a peak in pollen from the pine family (Cedrus sp. and Pinus sp.). Weed pollen included the daisy family (Asteraceae), nettles (Urticaceae) and goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae).

Johannesburg

Grass, tree, weed and mould counts were low. Tree pollen included birch (Betula sp.), plane (Platanus sp.), gum (Myrtaceae), karee (Rhus sp. / Searsia sp.), cypress (Cupressaceae), oak (Quercus sp.) and pine (Pinus sp.). Weed pollen included the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae), goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae), the daisy family (Asteraceae), spurges (Euphorbia sp.) and ericas (Ericaeae).

Pretoria

Grass levels were low. No tree pollen was detected. Weed  pollen was equally low and only slangbos (Stoebe-type), hop-bush (Dodonaea) and the daisy family (Asteraceae) were detected. Moulds were low.

Bloemfontein

Low levels of grass pollen were detected in the atmosphere. Trees were low and were represented by the sumac family (Anacardiaceae), karee (Searsia sp. /Rhus sp.) and cypress (Cupressaceae). Low weed levels included the daisy family (Asteraceae) and knotweed (Polygonaceae). Moulds were low.

Kimberley

Grass, tree and weed pollen levels were extremely low. Trees detected were kareeboom (Searsia/Rhus) and weeds were goosefoot (Chenopodiaceae). Moulds were equally low. Charcoal fragments were regularly seen.

Durban

Low grass levels were detected. Low tree levels included the sumac family (Anacardiaceae), karee (Searsia / Rhus ), forest elder (Nuxia) pine (Pinaceae), waxberry (Morella) and Norfolk pines (Araucariaceae). Low weeds included nettles (Urticaceae) and geranium (Geranaceae). Moulds were low.

Gqeberha

Grass, tree, weed and mould counts were low. Tree pollen included the cashew or sumac family (Anacardiaceae) and pine (Pinus sp.). Weed pollen detected was the daisy family (Asteraceae), mugworts (Artemisia sp.), sedges (Cyperaceae), ericas (Ericaceae) and slangbos (Stoebe-type).
